Re: Search Ranking

Hi Timmus,

I'm checking with our provider on the details of the search results ranking.  I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks,

Tawny

Re: Search Ranking

Hi Timmus,

I apologize, I thought I had replied to you a couple of days ago, but now I realize I hadn't!

Here's what I learned from our provider.  It's a complicated formula, but basically they take into account the following; frequency of terms, distance between terms, size of the text the terms are contained in, if the message is a solution and if the thread is solved.

I hope that helps.

Thanks,

Tawny Mergel

Re: Search Ranking

Thanks Tawny. An example illustrating a confusing result is to search for your name "Tawny". You will see that some have a 100% rank yet some messages in the same exact thread have a score of 85%.

This is really not a big deal. I was just curious as the ranking seems to add little value. The solved flag is the key in my opinion. Hopefully folks will use it diligently.
