OOB label fields end in a colon (:smileyhappy:

RMC | Insert | Properties; The label added does not end in a colon.

Either remove all colons from label fields in the Web Client or append a colon to the end of the label when selecting a property.

Hide Inactive Lead Source

Status: New Idea
by mhartwell on 04-12-2012 07:52 AM

In the web version (7.5), you can change the status of a Lead Source to Inactive, but when a user clicks the find button to look up a lead source, they see all active and inactive.  There is only one search option - to search by description, status or (something else I can't remember).  But, you can't search for Status AND description.  If you search be description, you get all statuses.  My users don't want to see Inactive items and I don't want them to pick them. The end user should not be able to see Inactive items and Status should be removed from the search.  If I want them to choose an inactive item, I will make it active and it will appear in their list.

Searching for records in a database is an extremely important component. Speedsearch should be the standard lookup tool in saleslogix for finding records as the standard lookup functionality at entity level is very limiting and unforgiving. However Speedsearch needs a complete overhaul as it is clumsy and it is not user friendly. Users want and expect the "Google" experience from a search function.

Downsides of Speedsearch

  • Results take up too much space onscreen
  • Characters such as "&" and other unusual characters are not accepted.
  • Only the first 25 results are shown. (why not just All results?). Users assume that this all the results as it is not clear that there are more.
  • If you type in a portion of a word (e.g. basically a contains function) you do not get a result - very poor.
  • When the advanced box is open there is a scrollbar to view the results within the screen scrollbar which is confusing.
  • The ordering sometimes makes no sense. It will show leads with a poor match level before an account with 100% match level. Then the same search will order it correctly at another time. Users have a hard time trusting the results.

Features Wanted:

  • Predictive typing with the available results as you type (just like Google).
  • Ability to configure what fields are shown in the results pane as well as the preview pane. This should also be configurable for the type of entity where there is a match. For example the fields shown for a ticket will be different for the fields shown for an account.
  • Ability to set your own max results e.g.. All results
  • Results shown for portions of words (contains function)
  • If the bulk of the search is a match - for example if someone types in Company Limited and the record is in the database as "Company Ltd" or just "Company" it should still provide a corresponding match whereas currently no results will be returned.
  • Preview screen needs to be overhauled for look and feel. It looks awful and some of it is not relevant. Fields shown on the preview screen needs to be configurable.

    Where users do not have access to a record they can still see a match but are told they do not have access. This is actually a great feature as it means users have the ability to know a record is there and can discuss further with the account manager. However, I want the ability to allow a preview on the result for certain approved fields so the can get a basic understanding of a record in order to discuss further with the relevant account manager on potential duplicates or cross selling of sales opportunities etc.
  • In addition to records being sorted by score level. e.g.. 100% matches are shown before 90% matches etc, where the score level is the same, we need the ability to configure the order of results (e.g.. Accounts should show before leads because that is qualified information).

Filters on Date Fields

Status: New Idea
by Astute Commentator NickPoncia on 02-21-2012 01:51 PM

Date Filters in the web should be more configurable.

Simply having Next Month, Next Year, etc etc is no good really. It would be good to have it like Excel 2010, which automatically groups by YYYY, MM, DD, HH, MM, SS.  It should be possible to set this up in the Application Architect filters.

Our requirement is to filter by Month and Year, but it would be good to be able to drill/filter to any date/time element.  We are having to hard code our Month/Year Filter at the moment using a Range filter, which we will have to keep updating every few years. Not ideal.

See attached examples

OK you've already heard (or read) that the new java script Notes-History forms do NOT persist the user's carefully selected filters between accounts.......it simply throws them all away.

I made it clear at Boot Camp that my customer's aren't interested in this lack of basic behavior in an 8.0 upgrade NOR in the new Activity java Scipt tabs coming in 8.0.....

So here's the ideaLogix......

Persist the Filters........by Entitiy........by User......and store them locally or in the database. You need to be able to add additional filters to the form, and persist those as well.....maybe it's a SQL statement that gets stored in the database.....by UserID, by EntityName....

Basically the user goes after Contact History records one way.....Ticket History another......Opportunity.....and so forth. They carefully craft the values for the filters to answer their questions......... we should honor their work by persisting their efforts....not throwing away the work.....

Make sense???

An Integrity Checker for SLX!

Status: New Idea
by Bronze Elite Contributor on 03-12-2012 10:17 AM

Since we have had one since day zero February 1997....what's the idea RJ???

We need to ensure that running the integrity checker checks for all data values and relationship rules that can cause SLX to not work.....and fix the issue.

IF not having a Primary Contact is going to break Ticket's......

Or not have any DONOT fields = 'F' break ticket's.....

Null AccountManagerID in Account? Opportunity, Contact?

OR a NULL DateOpened field in Opportunity break just about everything......

ExchangeRate is NULL? REset it to 1.......ExcahngeRateType is Null reset it to the Currency Code of the User's machine or whatever....

Then the integrity checker needs to check the condition.....and fix it. correctly and permanently. Like inserting Address records (real ones) when it can't find one......

Once the integrity checker is run.....a retest should NEVER find the same error condition (i.e. unfixed) until such time as records were added\modified  that broke the test....

Lead Mail Merge Template OOTB

Status: Accepted
by Employee on 02-06-2012 02:25 AM

We need to supply a Lead Mail Merge Template OOTB and in Eval.

It always catches people out as they can't figure out how to Mail Merge to Leads as it is greyed out until a Template based on the LEAD table is created.

Simple, but would stop that question.

A great design idea to add convenient and consistency to Sage SalesLogix Web application. Add the ability to Drag and Drop to the attachments tab of SalesLogix Web anywhere the attachments tab is found.

Why:

  • Convenience – Users find this feature to be easy, allowing users to select one or multiple files at a time and dragging them into CRM.
  • Design Philosophy - this would mimic similar design philosophy of the History' tab's drag and drop feature, therefore keeping design interface for end users consistent.

On a side note, it would also be interesting to have the ability to right-click a file and send it to the attachments area of SLX using Window’s Send To feature:

  • Send to -> SLX Contact
  • Send to -> SLX Account
  • Send to -> SLX Opportunity

SLXMobile needs to be an 'App'

Status: Under Consideration
by Bronze Elite Contributor on 12-12-2011 10:06 AM

Before you crucify me, I'm not advocating writing the SLXMobile in native iPad, iPhone, et al languages....

What I'm suggesting (the idea) is that the SLXMobile Icon needs to appear in my list \ pages of iconized Apps on my mobile device.....click\touch the app and it automagically launches the supported browser, goes to the stored settings URL, etc.

We need to get beyond the open the browser, type in a URL, type in a UserName password login info stuff....KISS for the user, it's what they're used to (LinkedIn, FaceBook, et al), and it's much easier when on a train to downtown. One Thumb operation to get to the SLXMobile App Icon, click on it, presented with your Account list (or what have you).

AND

You can download the app and Search for it in the app store (did someone say MARKETING?). Reviews, hits, buzz, etc.

Tools Manage....Ticket Urgency needed.......for the LAN Admin, Architect, Client. Launches the Urgency Manager.

WEB: Administrator navigation  Icon needs to have a Ticket Urgency icon to launch the form.....and possibly another Insert drop down item....Insert New Urgency....

Was suprised how deeply buried this was in the SLX 7.5.4 system....LAN ADMIN Systems icon......office profiles.....edit one.....etc......

Not good.

Owner field name causes confusion

Status: New Idea
by Jetpayne on 04-04-2012 08:32 AM

Suggest that the Account "Owner" (team) field name, be changed to Account "Team" - Account Manager and Account Owner are often synonomous and having both of them as field names can be confusing when they both represent something different  wihtin SLX - the Account Manager "owns" the account - a "Team" has access to and works together on an account.

So right now the mobile client just opens google maps in a web browser when running the "showMapForAddress" function. It sure would be nice if it opened the native mapping application. I already use this, but it would be nice if it was included in the stock mobile client.

showMapForAddress: function(address) {
            if (navigator.userAgent.match(/ (android) /))
                window.location.href = String.format("geo:0,0?q={0}", address);
            else if (navigator.userAgent.match(/ (iphone|ipod|ipad) /))
                window.location.href = String.format("maps:q={0}", address);
            else   // web browser
                window.location.href = String.format("http://maps.google.com/maps?q={0}", address);
        }

 This just does a browser check and returns a hyperlink accordingly. If you're on Android it will open your default mapping application (normally Google Maps, but you can change it to be another App). If you're on iOS it opens the google maps application. And if you're on neither it just redirects you to google maps as normal.

My customers tell me they want to spend less time creating unique ways to send files from the sales library, or specific attachments. When they are in their mail client (Outlook) web users need to quickly find library documents and attachments (to accounts, tickets, etc) and include one or more in an email.

The web client actually took part of this feature away, it appears. Users of the web client cannot locate library documents to include in an email. This is an important job to get done, that competitors have been getting done for a long time.

I think a long look at how customers do their work would help greatly to reinforce the need expressed in this idea, as well as the best design to make the experience of getting this job the best it can be.

I'm a recent convert to Sage E-marketing, on 7.5.3 Lan & Web. However, when converting a lead over to a contact, the e-marketing history is lost. It would be great to preserve this, so that the entire history of the contact is maintained.  This is certainly the case when merging up with an existing contact - I'll be checking the next one where the contact didn't previously exist.

Andy

My users might be finding difficulty with this because we just converted from the LAN version to the web version.  But, when inserting a new contact/account/opportunity, users are able to navigate away from the Insert page without being prompted to save.  Sometimes they are in the middle of adding something and then get pulled away and have to come back.  They may forget what they are in the middle of and when they navigate away, they lose all of their information.  I think if a user navigates away from the Insert page, they should be prompted or notified that they will lose data if they continue.

The request is to be able to see all activities the user has access to, not just the records where they are the leader. It would be nice, but not maybe mobile friendly, to be able to select which users the user wants to view (like the desktop client). However, maybe a simple option for "Show My Activities" vs "Show All Activities" would be a good compromise.

Our customers LIVE in Outlook, like it or not. SendSLX and Record To History have become a competitive challenge.

We need "Outlook2CRM - like" integration (inclusive) which allows consultants (or even customers) to build work "processes" that spawn AFTER basic validation checks occur.....like is the Contact in the database, No?, then help me add the contact and then continue with the process I started. Doing everything from one button (which it doesn't do) is not the answer.

Having to purchase a 3rd party add-on (as awesome as it is) is a show stopper in many deals. The other show stopper is the fact that we are being driven to the web, yet no new Outlook Integration was introduced to this new and advanced environment.

The amount of time that someone who lives in Outlook has to spend dealing with these delinquencies is sginificant. 3rd Party or Interna. We need comprehensive Outlook integration. See Infusionsoft

Toolbar in the Web

Status: New Idea
by Astute Commentator NickPoncia on 05-11-2011 01:29 PM

The toolbar at the top of the screen (which has a Save button, record navigation buttons, undo, delete etc.) should be in a static frame and not affected by scrolling.

On computers with lower resolutions it is annoying to have to scroll to up to navigate through records.

Group Lookup

Status: New Idea
by Copper Elite Contributor on 03-15-2012 01:58 PM

If the result of a Group Lookup contains one record; open the detail for the record instead of making the user select the single returned record.

It would be really useful to have does not contain as a standard operator in the query builder in SalesLogix. SLX allows you to have "not equal to" but what if you want to blanket filter out a particular word from a field?

The ACT! By Sage software actually contains this functionality in its advanced query builder so I was a little surprised to find that SalesLogix doesn't have this. It should be pretty easy to implement as well. The contains is simply a "LIKE '%data%'" statement in SQL so does not contain should simply be "NOT LIKE '%data%'".
