New Idea
The request is to be able to see all activities the user has access to, not just the records where they are the leader. It would be nice, but not maybe mobile friendly, to be able to select which users the user wants to view (like the desktop client). However, maybe a simple option for "Show My Activities" vs "Show All Activities" would be a good compromise.

So right now the mobile client just opens google maps in a web browser when running the "showMapForAddress" function. It sure would be nice if it opened the native mapping application. I already use this, but it would be nice if it was included in the stock mobile client.

showMapForAddress: function(address) {
            if (navigator.userAgent.match(/ (android) /))
                window.location.href = String.format("geo:0,0?q={0}", address);
            else if (navigator.userAgent.match(/ (iphone|ipod|ipad) /))
                window.location.href = String.format("maps:q={0}", address);
            else   // web browser
                window.location.href = String.format("http://maps.google.com/maps?q={0}", address);
        }

 This just does a browser check and returns a hyperlink accordingly. If you're on Android it will open your default mapping application (normally Google Maps, but you can change it to be another App). If you're on iOS it opens the google maps application. And if you're on neither it just redirects you to google maps as normal.

My customers tell me they want to spend less time creating unique ways to send files from the sales library, or specific attachments. When they are in their mail client (Outlook) web users need to quickly find library documents and attachments (to accounts, tickets, etc) and include one or more in an email.

The web client actually took part of this feature away, it appears. Users of the web client cannot locate library documents to include in an email. This is an important job to get done, that competitors have been getting done for a long time.

I think a long look at how customers do their work would help greatly to reinforce the need expressed in this idea, as well as the best design to make the experience of getting this job the best it can be.

Tools Manage....Ticket Urgency needed.......for the LAN Admin, Architect, Client. Launches the Urgency Manager.

WEB: Administrator navigation  Icon needs to have a Ticket Urgency icon to launch the form.....and possibly another Insert drop down item....Insert New Urgency....

Was suprised how deeply buried this was in the SLX 7.5.4 system....LAN ADMIN Systems icon......office profiles.....edit one.....etc......

Not good.

SLXMobile needs to be an 'App'

Status: Under Consideration
by Bronze Elite Contributor on 12-12-2011 10:06 AM

Before you crucify me, I'm not advocating writing the SLXMobile in native iPad, iPhone, et al languages....

What I'm suggesting (the idea) is that the SLXMobile Icon needs to appear in my list \ pages of iconized Apps on my mobile device.....click\touch the app and it automagically launches the supported browser, goes to the stored settings URL, etc.

We need to get beyond the open the browser, type in a URL, type in a UserName password login info stuff....KISS for the user, it's what they're used to (LinkedIn, FaceBook, et al), and it's much easier when on a train to downtown. One Thumb operation to get to the SLXMobile App Icon, click on it, presented with your Account list (or what have you).

AND

You can download the app and Search for it in the app store (did someone say MARKETING?). Reviews, hits, buzz, etc.

I can only add new Contacts to an Opportunity. I need to be able to add existing Contacts as well.

Ideally, i would also like to be able to select a Contact record on Opportunity entry.

Scenario 1: Create a new Opportunity from a Contact record. The contact record you were in is added to the Opportunity but you can only add additional new Contacts to the Opportunity

Scenario 2: Create a new Opportunity from an Account record. I cannot add a Contact at Oppo entry. Once the Opportunity has been created, i can only add new Contacts to the Opportunity- not link to an existing opportunity.

Scenario 3: An existing Opportunity. I want to add an additional Contact (having just found out the Decision Maker, 3rd Party Consultant etc). I can create them as a new record but I cannot add them if they already exist in my SLX database.

A great design idea to add convenient and consistency to Sage SalesLogix Web application. Add the ability to Drag and Drop to the attachments tab of SalesLogix Web anywhere the attachments tab is found.

Why:

  • Convenience – Users find this feature to be easy, allowing users to select one or multiple files at a time and dragging them into CRM.
  • Design Philosophy - this would mimic similar design philosophy of the History' tab's drag and drop feature, therefore keeping design interface for end users consistent.

On a side note, it would also be interesting to have the ability to right-click a file and send it to the attachments area of SLX using Window’s Send To feature:

  • Send to -> SLX Contact
  • Send to -> SLX Account
  • Send to -> SLX Opportunity

I noticed today that users aren't able to clear lookup controls on the SalesLogix Mobile client. I ran into a situation where I needed this functionality, so I created a modified LookupField.js file to handle it. I would like to see this, or something like it, included in the mobile client in the future. I have attached my modified version for all to use.

Note: If you wish to use this you will need to set the new property "allowClear" to true.

I'm a recent convert to Sage E-marketing, on 7.5.3 Lan & Web. However, when converting a lead over to a contact, the e-marketing history is lost. It would be great to preserve this, so that the entire history of the contact is maintained.  This is certainly the case when merging up with an existing contact - I'll be checking the next one where the contact didn't previously exist.

Andy

My users might be finding difficulty with this because we just converted from the LAN version to the web version.  But, when inserting a new contact/account/opportunity, users are able to navigate away from the Insert page without being prompted to save.  Sometimes they are in the middle of adding something and then get pulled away and have to come back.  They may forget what they are in the middle of and when they navigate away, they lose all of their information.  I think if a user navigates away from the Insert page, they should be prompted or notified that they will lose data if they continue.

It would be really useful to have does not contain as a standard operator in the query builder in SalesLogix. SLX allows you to have "not equal to" but what if you want to blanket filter out a particular word from a field?

The ACT! By Sage software actually contains this functionality in its advanced query builder so I was a little surprised to find that SalesLogix doesn't have this. It should be pretty easy to implement as well. The contains is simply a "LIKE '%data%'" statement in SQL so does not contain should simply be "NOT LIKE '%data%'".

Could we have the ability to roll out both intellisync and the desktop manager so they can be installed for users who have locked down desktops.

Toolbar in the Web

Status: New Idea
by Astute Commentator NickPoncia on 05-11-2011 01:29 PM

The toolbar at the top of the screen (which has a Save button, record navigation buttons, undo, delete etc.) should be in a static frame and not affected by scrolling.

On computers with lower resolutions it is annoying to have to scroll to up to navigate through records.

Lookup Condition

Status: New Idea
by Copper Super Contributor anoshwadia on 11-14-2011 12:41 PM

When you add a Lookup Control to a SalesLogix Web quickform, it seems to always default to a "CONTAINS" condition.

Many customers have asked us to change this so it defaults to a "Starting With" condition. However it looks like this change is not possible(?)

A CONTAINS condition is more expensive on the SQL server as well, especially if you lookup on a larger text field.

It would be handy if this was customizable in code so that the default condition can be set programmatically. I know it seems like a minor request, but its all about streamlining workflow and improving the user experience with the product and little things like this do matter!

Thanks!

UAC Fully Supported

Status: New Idea
by Copper Super Contributor craigf on 07-26-2011 03:24 AM

Not really an idea however was advised to post it here.

Can we get full support for UAC to be enabled, we have seen numerous issues when UAC is left on and whilst some smaller environments are happy to have this disabled, more and more larger clients are requesting the ability to have UAC fully supported.

Get rid of the Sage customer satisfaction survey in web

Status: New Idea
by SamMitchell on 09-21-2011 06:18 AM - last edited on 09-21-2011 07:27 AM

We have been receiving complaints from nearly all of our web customers about the Sage Customer Satisfaction survey. They are saying that it's intrusive and unprofessional. They would expect this out of a freeware product but not  in a fully paid for and advanced CRM system like SLX.

Disabling this survey is quite a straight forward task but should we have to? Is there no other way of garning customer opinion of SalesLogix other that flashing a pop-up? Even when told not to ask again, it seems to rear its head again some months down the line.

Our customers LIVE in Outlook, like it or not. SendSLX and Record To History have become a competitive challenge.

We need "Outlook2CRM - like" integration (inclusive) which allows consultants (or even customers) to build work "processes" that spawn AFTER basic validation checks occur.....like is the Contact in the database, No?, then help me add the contact and then continue with the process I started. Doing everything from one button (which it doesn't do) is not the answer.

Having to purchase a 3rd party add-on (as awesome as it is) is a show stopper in many deals. The other show stopper is the fact that we are being driven to the web, yet no new Outlook Integration was introduced to this new and advanced environment.

The amount of time that someone who lives in Outlook has to spend dealing with these delinquencies is sginificant. 3rd Party or Interna. We need comprehensive Outlook integration. See Infusionsoft

The standard query builder when you add a new group is quite daunting for most standard users and finding the relevant fields can be quite difficult if you don't know the database structure - e.g. seccodeID field gives no clue that it is actually the owner field.

in 7.5.3 web client - filtering is a great way of getting to the data you need quickly and easily without having to build a query. However once you have filtered the data you can create a group but it is a static group and not dynamic.

I think a great way of building simple dynamic groups very quickly and easily (without having to use query builder) would be to have another common task option called Save records as a dynamic  group. This option, would create a new group with the existing group conditions plus the new conditions you have applied with the filter automatically to the conditions of the query.

This would free up administrators from having to create simple groups for users who are not comfortable with the create groups function (which is most of the users in our organisation).

What we need for tablets (iPad, Zoom, et al) is the new SLX Mobile Client to put the 'home' page on the left hand side of the screen as a SiteMap/ribbon/Nav Bar. AutoMagically.

We've got these nice 7" and 10" wide tablets [need I mention browsers on laptop and desktop computers???!!!) and the SLX Mobile client needs to be more Native AppLike, Monitor size aware, and user friendly.

Thanks!

Hide Hidden Fields

Status: New Idea
by Astute Commentator NickPoncia on 08-24-2011 06:19 AM

When creating Groups in the Web, there is an option to Hide Hidden Fields.  Surely this should  be "Show Hidden Fields" by default?  If an Administrator sets a field to "hidden", the user shouldn't then have to click "Hide Hidden Fields" to actually hide it!

My reason for this is the Group Builder can be daunting for a new user, there are so many tables and fields. Most of the fields are not used, so it would be very useful to hide the unused fields and them be hidden by default to make this screen more user friendly.
