I was in the process of upgrading to hf3 and thought I would upgrade the mapi also (it was running Outlook 2002 sp2). Downloaded and installed the standalone mapi and cdo stuff, now I can't make a connection. The error I get is "IMsgServiceAdmin::ConfigureMsgService failed: MAPI_E_NOT_INITIALIZED" Running Windows Server 2003 sp2, EL 8.0.0.1062 and MAPI 6.5.82110. Anybody have any ideas?

This is usually an indication that you have two versions of MAPI installed.
Try to uninstall both the standalone version of MAPI and Outlook, then reinstall the standalone version of MAPI.

That's it! I had previously removed Outlook, but there was still an entry for Microsoft Office in the "Add or Remove Programs" dialog. I removed that and now I can successfully make a connection. Thank you!
